In the past few days, I have seen a spirited online war in which, fellows are questioning the viability of multi-billion projects, Governor Anne Waiguru is allegedly planning in Kirinyaga.
Well….
As I have said before, I always keep off Kirinyaga County politics because of personal reasons.
However, since I have been in Kirinyaga for one week and will most likely be here for the next few days, let me throw in a word or two into the debate.
Here is my simple unsolicited advice to Minji Minji:
Mega projects are good. Very good. They have a long term impact on the locals if they materialize.
However, as you embark on those ambitious projects, NEVER, and I mean NEVER forget FOUR things;
1. FIVE YEARS from today, you will be subjected to the BALLOT as you most likely will be seeking RE-ELECTION.
2. YOUR FATE in that ELECTION shall be decided, PURELY, on the basis of how much your FIRST TERM has DIRECTLY CHANGED the LIVES of the VOTERS.
3. Therefore, ASK YOURSELF, will the MEGA PROJECTS have DIRECTLY BENEFITED the COMMON MAN BY THEN? If YES, all the best. If NO, kindly CHANGE TACT as early as NOW.
4. FINALLY, always bear in mind that ALL POLITICS ARE LOCAL. VERY LOCAL INDEED.
Enough said for now.
