Diplomatic immunity for International Development Law Organization (IDLO) in Kenya has been withdrawn.
This withdrawal effectively degrades the status of IDLO in the country. As a result, key officials of the NGO will no longer enjoy privileges that come with diplomatic status such as exemption from taxes, land rates etc
Their diplomatic passports will also be withdrawn.
IDLO, a little known yet highly influential international organization, has been at the centre of controversy in the past few weeks after it emerged that, the Prof Makau Mutua chaired organization might have covertly worked with crooked judges to influence the outcome of the Supreme Court judgement which nullified the 8/8/2017 presidential elections.
