From the IEBC National Tallying Centre domiciled at the Bomas of Kenya to the Supreme Court, opposition’s National Super Alliance (NASA) has consistently blamed one man for all their misfortunes; President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Personal Assistant, Jomo Gecaga.
According to NASA, Jomo has been President Kenyatta’s ‘Mr Fix It’ who ensures that he scuttles every effort by the Raila led coalition ‘to get justice.’
And the standoff pitting the president’s right hand man against NASA appears to be far from over.
On Monday – day 3 of the Supreme Court hearing of an election petition NASA has filed challenging Uhuru’s re-election – a video went viral showing Moses Wetangula’s bodyguard being locked out of the court’s premises, forcing Raila Odinga and Wetangula to retreat to demand the guard’s entry.
After a tussle the guard eventually got in but a more significant thing happened next.
Jomo Gecaga – the President’s chief enforcer – who got in minutes before the NASA Principals arrived without a bodyguard came face to face with the NASA Summit leaders.
Upon seeing Jomo, Wetangula retorted, “Jomo, are you the one giving these orders?”
During the tallying of the presidential vote at the Bomas of Kenya, NASA blamed the alleged hacking of the IEBC system on a team lead by Jomo Gecaga.
Interestingly, when former opposition blogger Robert Alai was released after what turned out to be a wrongful arrest, he tweeted that it was Jomo who had come to his aid.
