Kibaki discharged from SA hospital, in jovial mood

Former President Mwai Kibaki was discharged from Netcare Sunninghill hospital, Johannesburg on Tuesday.

This was after going through a successful carotid artery surgery on his neck.

A member of the family said the former Head of State was in a jovial mood at the time the doctors said he was okay to return home.

“President Kibaki is in jovial and high spirits. He will continue to recuperate for a few more days before returning home,” the statement from the family read.

He was admitted to the facility on August 21 after falling ill at his Muthaiga home.

Before being flown of the , Kibaki spent the better part of Sunday at Karen hospital.

The ex-President came into power when his coalition party Narc ended Kanu’s four-decade rule and served for two terms.
