Every weekend, for the past several weeks, I have dedicated this space to a rare series that seeks to tell the untold story of H.E. Mwai Kibaki, the immediate former President of The Republic of Kenya.
However, as you may have noticed, I abruptly suspended that series – popularly known as #TheKibakiYouDontKnow – last week.
I would therefore like to clarify to all my esteemed readers that indeed, the suspension was not accidental; it was very much intentional.
I arrived at the decision to pause the series immediately I received the sad news that Kibaki had been hospitalized after being taken ill on Saturday last week.
According to an official statement issued by his family, the third President was first rushed to Karen Hospital, Nairobi where he was treated overnight and later flown to South Africa for specialized treatment by an Amref Flying Doctors air ambulance on Sunday, accompanied by his personal physician, Dr Dan Gikonyo.
I would hereby like to wish this astute statesman quick recovery.
Mzee, Kenya still needs you.
